GORE-TEX® GASKET TAPE

GORE-TEX gasket tape is pure virgin polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in an expanded form. When compressed, it form a very thin gasket that presents a thin profile to flow materials. It is so soft and conformable that it will seal surface irregularities of up to 0.006" in depth under standard loading forces.

The characteristics of expanded PTFE make this gasketing material useful in a wide range of applications.

• Seals through a wide temperature range (-450°F to +600°F)
• Inert to all common chemicals (only molten alkali metals and elemental fluorine will affect this material)
• Nonaging
• Will not contaminate flow materials
• Seals internal pressures of up to 3000 psig
• Significantly reduced creep/cold flow

Since expanded PTFE does not creep or cold flow like other fluorocarbon sheet materials, no retorquing is required, therefore, maintaining a tight seal and saving man hours.

In tape form, GORE-TEX gasket tape is available in four thicknesses with pressure sensitive adhesive in standard widths up to 2". In this form, it is ideal for use on smooth sealing surfaces requiring a thin gasket profile.

This soft pliable material can easily be die-cut with scissors or a die to quickly form a gasket of any configuration less than 8" wide. Or any number of configurations or gasket sizes can be constructed using the GORE-TEX gasket tape in its tape form.

Because of its compressibility, this unique material requires less bolt force than other materials to effect a seal, making it an excellent gasket for plastic or other easily damaged sealing surfaces. Many facilities stock several sheets of 8" wide GORE-TEX gasket tape specifically for its usefulness in scheduled maintenance repairs.

GORE-TEX gasket tape will quickly salvage damaged spiral wound or ring joint gaskets when a length of tape is applied directly to the worn surface. It can also be applied to the faces of new metal gaskets to achieve an excellent seal and, therefore, extend the life of the worn flanges. Worn O-rings can often be reused by applying a length of GORE-TEX gasket tape over the O-ring.

GORE-TEX gasket tape can be ordered in standard widths of 1/2", 3/4", 1", or 2", packaged in rolls of 50 or 100 feet, and 8" wide GORE-TEX gasket tape packaged in rolls of 5 feet. GORE-TEX gasket tape is available in four standard nominal thicknesses of 0.010", 0.020", 0.040", and 0.065".
